RESIDENTIAL / JERSEY CITY
Monochromatic Design

When presented to the Dixon Projects team, this dismal unit was burdened by dingy hardwood floors and a lack of light. However, with original architectural details and an enviable location, the team recognized the potential charm this home held behind its faded layers of paint and poorly designed layout.

Situated in the Van Vorst Park Historic District, this home required several permit approvals before construction could commence. With a reputation for historically accurate renovations, the team expedited the approvals process through detailed planning, guideline expertise and strong relationships with local community boards. Upon approval, the team reconfigured the layout by removing a partition wall that separated the kitchen from the living room. This immediately transformed the floor plan into an open space flooded with natural light.

Then, the team outfitted the kitchen with top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances, an all-white textured backsplash that runs from countertop to ceiling, glossy shelves for storage and Caesarstone countertops with breakfast bar seating. The team laid chevron hardwood flooring throughout further adding to the updated vibe of this home.

Herringbone floors

Next, the team reworked the bathroom layout, adding sparkling Ferguson fixtures, a vanity for storage and Art Deco inspired floor tiles. An added bonus, this new arrangement freed up extra space to fit a stacked washer + dryer.

In the bedroom, the team refurbished the details of a beautiful existing arch and continued the chevron hardwood flooring throughout. To maximize the space, a massive walk-in closet with shelves and drawers was added to one end of the bedroom. The team then topped off the room with a stunning white rose light fixture. What began as an unattractive unit in an enviable location became a well-designed asset with a touch of charm and a ton of desirable amenities.
